Hume Prestons Fire Safety Demo and Information Day

Non-Combustible | Fire Resistance | Cladding | Insulation | Rockwool | Weathertex | Paslode Tools

On Friday 22 March, Hume’s newest store at Prestons NSW welcomed customers old and new to a special CPD training day and demonstration on the topic of fire safety using Weathertex timber cladding and Rockwool insulation. Our new supply partner Paslode tools was also on site to assist with the demonstrations, and a representative from ITI came along to join in the networking and information exchange.

Presentations:

Timber cladding is an increasingly popular choice for Australian commercial and domestic buildings due to its striking natural aesthetic, durability and low environmental impact.

However, the strong fire-resistant qualities of timber are often unknown or poorly understood. Weathertex’s Business Development Manager Andrew Savage gave a CPD presentation on the topic of “Fire Safety When Using Timber Cladding."

Weathertex also conducted a live demo, presented by Simon Hasham and installed by Craig Harvey. 

AIS/Rockwool’s National Commercial Manager Steve Oliver meanwhile gave a presentation on the topic of “Building Envelopes with Non-Combustible Insulation."

Heath Sharpe, the Insulation Manager at Hume, added: “The topic of non-combustibility has never been more important in our industry, so it was great to get Weathertex and Rockwool along today to share their expertise. 

"Rockwool is a very useful product in terms of insulation. It provides thermal insulation, passive fire resistance, acoustic insulation and handles moisture very well. What’s more, it is sustainable and health-safe. We’re very pleased to be able to offer this product to our customers.”

In between live demos and CPD presentations, attendees enjoyed a BBQ breakkie and networking chats. “Even the barbies are better at Hume,” said one attendee - “you put the onions on top!”

Paslode donated a Paslode Impulse Li-ion Straight Bradder as a lucky prize draw, and our client Jim Yan of New Australia Construction Pty Ltd went away a winner!
